Scarves for short necks

I was chatting with a friend the other day, and she described herself as a "scarf hoarder", which I loved.  But I also felt super jealous -- I have a proportionately shorter neck, so I always stick to V- or scoop-neck tops.  Unfortunately, adding a scarf negates any neck elongating illusions that a V-neck provides, and actually swallows my neck up entirely.

But, our conversation inspired me to try again with the scarves.  They are just SO cute, especially this one from Zara that was wildly popular last year.

They have a similar one this year, but with all the red, the colors feel too bold for me.  Luckily, there are a ton of alternatives!

Running

I've been having the worst time staying committed to working out lately.  (And by lately, I mean the past 2+ years).  Right before I started graduate school, I was running a ton - like 15 miles a week and doing workout videos for weight training.  But over the past three years, my eating habits have gotten worse and my time spent exercising has seriously declined.  Like, it's-non-existent declined.  I wish I had a good excuse, but my boyfriend and I just really love food, and sadly, I can (and do) eat as much as he does at many meals.

A while ago, I found this app/website called gip.is.  You enter your current running level, and what distance you'd like to work up to.  I started it a year or two ago, and quit after a few weeks, but I just created a new "plan" and I'm hoping I can stick to it this time!

Guitar Hooks (from Little Green Notebook)

I absolutely LOVE everything that Jenny Komenda does on the Little Green Notebook.  Her blog is by far the one I've followed the longest, and I'm constantly getting inspiration from her many fantastic DIY projects.

In September, she posted about how they made guitar hooks for their music room.  I LOVE that they have a music room -- I played the piano as a kid and I dream about having a music room in my house one day.  Clinton grew up playing classical violin, but is much more likely to play his guitar, mandolin, or ukulele these days, meaning that these are often lying around, waiting to be knocked over or sat on.   But not anymore!

We made our own guitar hooks, and I'm pretty happy with how they turned out!

Wish List: Design Books

Design books are one of those indulgences that I always want but never buy. Whenever a new one comes out, I always bookmark it and think I'll splurge one day, especially if it's by one of my favorite designers. But somehow, I can never hit send.

Maybe it's because I know I won't really "use" it, other than to glance through it once? Or maybe it's just hard to commit $40+ to a book when so much information is free or less than $10 thanks to Amazon. Either way, here's my list of Design Books I'll Never Buy, But Will Always Want.
